For Call And Response Records' 10th anniversary in 2015, we produced this tribute album to one of the label's key early bands, who remain a spiritual cornerstone to everything we do. Mir put out two mini-albums from Call And Response in 2007 and 2013, and while they never achieved the recognition they deserved, their heart-stopping, icy-sweet tunes and raw, emotional art-punk energy made them legends in this tiny world we keep trying to build and maintain for ourselves in the Japanese indie music scene.

The bands who participated in this compilation included old friends of Mir from their early days, bands who shared bills with them around Tokyo, and musicians they inspired. It also ended up being a sort of road map to the next few years of Call And Response Records, producing early recordings from bands who would later put out their own releases through the label and other projects from members of other bands on the label. There are specific notes about each track in the info section.

By it's nature, it's an introspective album, born from a small world of musicians, but for that same reason it was also a labour of love for us as well. It's one of the releases we're most proud of, with a wide range of creativity in the execution held together by the simple and affecting songwriting of Mir's original tunes.
